About: "The Father," a gripping and emotionally intense play by Florian Zeller, delves into the complexities of dementia from the perspective of an elderly man named André. As his world becomes increasingly disoriented and fragmented, the audience is taken on a powerful journey through the mind of someone struggling with this devastating condition masterfully portraying the confusion and heartbreak experienced by André and his daughter, offering a poignant look at the impact of aging and memory loss. The play takes on these issues with profound honesty and charming humor peppered throughout.

The Father’s profound narrative was brought to an even wider audience with the recent Academy Award-winning film adaptation based on this play. Zeller directed the film as well. Only seven performances at Center Stage.

California Central Coast Alzheimer’s Association will have information at the theater about the local chapter and the resources here in Santa Barbara. On Sunday, after the matinee there will be panel of experts on dementia from the CA Central Coast Alzheimer’s Association along with some cast & the director to bring more understanding to this disease.
