In the pantheon of notable painters of Santa Barbara over the past half century, Cavat occupies a special place.
A fine and passionate artist whose earliest influences include the Abstract Expressionists, Cavat has the distinction of being a successful and well-respected woman artist in a male-dominated field.
She developed her wisdom and skills as a pioneering member of the UCSB art department from the mid 1960s until her retirement in 2000.
Irma also held solo and group exhibitions from Santa Barbara, Montecito, San Francisco, New Mexico, NY, LA, Italy, Greece, Haiti, Paris to England. This and More!
