Searching for Wildflowers in Santa Barbara County

Free Presentation with Q&A

Thursday, April 17, 6:30pm
Faulkner Gallery – Santa Barbara Public Library
40 East Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, CA

Our region is a global biodiversity hotspot, and it boasts an amazing diversity of native plant species. Differences in elevation, underlying geology, slope aspect, precipitation, distance from the coast, and other factors all contribute to this diversity.

Join Sally Isaacson as she shares photos of wildflowers that she has taken over many years in various locations around our county.

Sally grew up in Ireland and moved to California in 1973. She studied botany at Trinity College Dublin and at U.C. Santa Barbara. Sally worked at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden for 20 years, most recently as Director of Education. Since 2011, she has been the Education Coordinator at the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County’s Arroyo Hondo Preserve. Sally has been a lifelong educator and naturalist. She especially enjoys teaching children and adults about ecology, animals, and plants, and working with volunteers.

This free presentation is part of the Trail Talks series hosted by the Santa Barbara Public Library.

The next talk in the series is Thursday, May 15, Protecting California’s Rare Native Grasslands
