Pranayama for Your Constitution: Ayurvedic Workshop

In this course we will survey an individualized approach to practicing prānāyāma based on your physiological and mental body type. We will consider how to vary practice based on your health, capacity, and seasons. We will demonstrate and practice together breath-work to support benefits ranging from stress management, cultivating creativity, and developing a spiritual experience.

Pranām is a traditional Indian greeting or prostration offered as sign of respect. It is a combination of two words: Par - divine and Nam - name… Thus, the greeting “Par-nam” affirms that our encounter is undertaken in “divine name.”

This word is closely related to the Prānā… which means “life” and “breath”. The close association is intended to indicate that every breath and life itself is to be undertaken in “divine name”.

The practice of prānāyāma is breathing exercise to cultivate the divine presence within this sacred vehicle of the body.
