Please join Leslie Howard at Yoga Soup for this very special 4-day Immersion Pelvic Floor Yoga Teacher Training.

The first day of the training will be a Pelvic Floor Yoga Introductory Workshop.

Proper strengthening and stabilizing of the pelvic floor helps to create the correct foundation of each movement in the body. This is the true meaning of "core work." Whether you experience any of these conditions, or are just plain curious about this region of the body, this workshop is for you:
pelvic pain
lower back
hip or groin problems
discomfort during sex or while using tampons
skin irritation
leak when laughing or sneezing
have to go the bathroom too often
prolapsed organs
pre & post pregnancy

The workshop will begin with anatomy lecture, followed by subtle experiential movements to awaken your understanding of this often ignored area. Then there will be yoga practices for hypertonic and hypotonic pelvic floors. A series of specific exercises and asanas for the pelvic floor will follow. Handouts will be provided. Bring your friends, sisters, mothers and daughters.

Although helpful, no yoga experience is required. This workshop qualifies for continuing ed credits with Yoga Alliance.

The remaining 3 days of the training will be a Pelvic Floor Yoga Teacher Training.

In this twenty hour workshop, we will delve deeper into how to teach students with pelvic floor issues and applying Pelvic Floor YogaTM. Leslie's methodology is scientifically proven to be seventy percent effective for pelvic floor issues. Topics will include:

Cultural, medical and historical contexts of women and the pelvis
Current understanding of the pelvis, sexuality, misconceptions and modern medical care
In depth anatomy of the pelvis, hip flexors and rotators and connective musculature and how they translate into pelvic health
How posture affects the pelvic floor
Identifying hypertonic vs. hypotonic muscles and the difference between a strong muscle and a tense muscle and a loose muscle
The role of emotion on the breath and how this impacts the pelvic floor
How to teach breath and asana to women who need tone in their pelvis and as well as those who have too much tone
How to hold a safe environment for women
What to do with the pelvic floor during all stages of pre and post natal
Restorative yoga for the pelvic floor

The training includes an e-book version of Leslie’s, Pelvic Liberation which is the required reading. The training can be used for continuing education for Yoga Alliance and NCBTMB. Each day we will have a short break.
